James David Cowan, age 72, of Glidden, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen, Wisconsin.
Dave was born on March 11, 1941, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of James J. and Leona (Barnes) Cowan. He and Janice Kay Russell were united in marriage, in Noblesville, Indiana, on July 21, 1978. He was employed as a welder most of his working life. He enjoyed: hunting, fishing, nature and just being in the outdoors. After retirement he became a very social butterfly meeting the guys for coffee or conversing with total strangers.
Survivors include: his wife Kay, of Glidden; children: John (Carol) Cowan, of Indianapolis, Indiana; Michele Cardwell, of Westfield, Indiana; Charles (Keiko) Cowan of Noblesville; Tina Bryant, of Strawtown, Indiana; and Debby (Kent) Findlay, of Saint Jacob, Illinois; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Larry (Millie) Cowan, of San Diego, California; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the VFW Hall in Glidden, beginning at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Decmeber 31, 2013 and continuing until the hour of service.
A funeral service, for Dave, will be held at 11, a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the VFW Hall in Glidden. Reverend James Imse will officiate.
Interment will take place in Oakland Memorial Gardens, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
