U.S. Veteran

Retired Project Manager, he passed away suddenly on December 27th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett after being stricken in his home. He was 75 years of age.  Born in Somerville he grew up in Medford the beloved son of the late Vincent and Philomena Barbaro.  HE graduated from Medford High School and continued his education receiving an Associates Degree from Wentworth Institute.  He enlisted in the Army in 1960 and he attended the Command General Staff College. He served during the Viet Nam Era and continued military service in the Army National Guard.  He retired from military service in 1993 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  He married Frances (Sliwinski) in 1961, together they settled in Saugus raising their daughter and son there. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife after sharing 44 years of marriage.  “Buddy” was a Union Carpenter working with Vappi Const. and Manganaro Const and later he was a Project Manager and Vice President with Geo. B.H. Macomber Construction.  A Member of Carpenters Local 40 he served on the Apprentice Committee.

His Funeral will begin from the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Tuesday December 31st, at 8:00 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, Beach St., Revere at 9:00 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held at the Welsh Funeral Home on Monday from 4 - 8 P.M.  Funeral Home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite Funeral Home.

He was the beloved husba
nd of the late Frances A. (Sliwinski) Barbaro and devoted father of Leslie Blaney and her husband John of Haverhill, Tony Barbaro and his wife Debbie of Windham NH.  Cherished grandfather of Madailein Blaney, Olivia Barbaro, Nelson Blaney, Nicholas and Alyssa Barbaro. Dear brother of Marie Proia of Stoneham. Very dear friend and companion of Marylin Sliwinski of Revere.
