Robert Steele Roth, 83, formerly of Boston, died, Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham. He was the husband of 48 years to Micheline Mathews-Roth formerly of Boston. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde Christian Roth and Gertrude Steele Roth.
He received a B.A. degree from Kenyon College, a M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Harvard University.
He was a mathematician and worked at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge for many years. He is survived by his wife, his son, John D. Roth and his wife Sandra of Wellesley; two grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Roth. He is also survived by his siblings, C. Henry Roth and his wife Jeanne of Houston, TX and Margaret Brown of Washington, D.C.; his niece Catherine Roth and his nephew George Brown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday December 30th at 11 Am at the Church of the Advent, 30 Brimmer St., Boston, MA 02108. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. , Framingham. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Church of the Advent.
