Wilhelmina Bell (Evans) Bond, 94, of Perkinston died Monday, December 23, 2013, at Stone County Hospital Wiggins, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents Byrd A. and Clara Bertha Evans; her husband, Elder Ray D. Bond; brothers Curtis, Guy, Polk, Arlie, and Shirley Evans.
She was born April 24, 1919, in Stone County, Mississippi to Byrd A. and Clara Bertha Evans. She married Ray D. Bond June, 1937, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing in August, 2001.
Survivors include her children, Wyvona Scarbrough (Billy J. Scarbrough) of Perkinston, Joyce Moree (Tommy Moree) of Gulfport, Sherron K. Bond of Perkinston, and Gerald W. Bond (Carolyn) of Perkinston; four grandchildren, Brian P. Scarbrough of Birmingham, Alabama, Shay Moree Powell (Donald Powell) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Amber Bond Hatten (Christopher) of Hattiesburg, Mark E. Bond of Gulfport; three great-grandchildren, Emory Thomas Powell of Mandeville, Louisiana, William Christopher Hatten, and Caroline Elizabeth Hatten of Hattiesburg; one brother, Teddy Evans of Crossville, Tennessee; one sister, Berdell Mays of Ozark, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church for 76 years. During that time she helped serve her Lord by taking care of the pastors, helping with meals for functions of the church, and cleaning the building. She was fondly known by the younger members of the church as “Aunt Willie”.
Her greatest achievement was supporting her husband, a minister, in his work serving the Lord as pastor of several churches. She served as his chauffeur the last years of his ministry. Her family always came first in her life.
Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at Sunflower Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service at the church Friday, December 27, 2013.
