James F. Jett

James F. Jett, 94, lifelong resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior with his loving family by his side on Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Tecumseh.

He was born on May 18, 1919 to John and Alice (Crouch) Jett in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. James was raised on the family farm Southeast of Tecumseh and attended Harjo Public Schools.

He married Winnie Wall on October 22, 1938 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2005.

James owned and operated Jett’s Service Station for many years. He sold the business to his daughter and son-in-law and it became Wise’s Phillip’s 66 where he continued to work for 32 more years. James was a volunteer with the Tecumseh Volunteer Fire Department from 1947 to 1967 retiring after 20 years of service.

James was a very devout Christian man and his faith was very important to him. He was a founding member of the Evangelistic Center Church where he attended faithfully.

James had a passion for gardening and maintained and tended his large 100 x 120 garden every year and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He enjoyed and loved raising his cattle. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Jett; 2 sons, Jimmy Jett and Johnny Jett; his parents; sister, Evelyn Brumley; brother, Dale Jett; and infant sister, Nadine Jett.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Dwight Wise, of Tecumseh; daughter-in-law, Sally Jett Jackson, of Shawnee; 2 sisters, Lorene Ray, of Baytown, TX and Zora Wirz, of Midwest City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Brad and Teresa Jett, Diana and Mike McPherson, Becky and Joe Simkins and Marlene and Chris Rahn; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and family.

The family has designated the Tecumseh Firemen’s Fund, 109 W. Washington, Tecumseh, OK 74873, Ph: (405) 598-3755 as appropriate for memorials.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013 and continue until service time. Family gathering to meet with friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Evangelistic Center Church with Pastor Mark McIntosh and Dwight Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
