U.S. Veteran

Memorial service for Mr. Don Eugene Brumbaugh, 86, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Davis officiating.

Don Eugene Brumbaugh of Dadeville, Alabama joined our Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Don was born in Arcanum, Ohio on October 21, 1927 to Cleo Brumbaugh and Estie Fitzwater Brumbaugh, who both preceded him in death.

Don is survived by his adored wife of 66 years, Ellen Marie Oakerson Brumbaugh and two daughters, Barbara (Sim) Lowe of Port Charlotte, Florida and Debbie (Dennis) Dunn of Dadeville, Alabama. He was the proud Grandpa of Kim Lowe (Jeff) Kirkpatrick of Punta Gorda, Florida, Sandy Dunn (Terry) Wilbanks and Shelly Dunn (Billy) Bowins all of Camp Hill, Alabama, Dennis (Mickie) Dunn of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Shannon Dunn (Floyd) Arthur of Arcadia, Florida. He has 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. His sister, Virginia (Joklahr) Keller, lives in Greenville, Ohio. There are several nieces, nephews, lots of friends, and adopted children and grandchildren who will miss him.

Don loved to travel and went coast to coast as well as north to south. He loved country music, family, and down home cooking. You could often find him stopping to talk to a friend, old or new, young or old; he did not know a stranger. He was always busy tinkering with one thing or another for himself and whoever needed help. He was our on call go to guy and fixed many bicycles for his grandchildren. Don was instrumental in the development of the Volunteer Sheriffs in Charlotte Co., Florida, and loved to escort local ball teams on trips for their games. The kids loved him and he had a blast.

Don worked as a maintenance engineer and supervisor for Charlotte Co. Florida Sherriff’s Dept., Medical Center Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Hospital all in Port Charlotte-Punta Gorda, Florida, his home for 50 years.

After Hurricane Charlie, Don and Marie moved to Dadeville, Alabama, retired and enjoyed each other and their family and friends.

Memorial messages may be sent to the family at
