Philip J. Mahoney, 78, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell Township, surrounded by his family. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Hamilton Township all of his life. He was an US Army Veteran and retired from US Steel in Fairless, PA after 35 years. He also owned and operated Phil’s Pool Service for many years. Phil enjoyed playing the guitar, wood working, antique cars, trips to Parx and Atlantic City but most of all loved spending time with family and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his four brothers, Don, Frank, Bobby and John Mahoney and two sisters Peg Dobo and Bette Estabrooke, Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Eleanor Mahoney (nee Suleskey); three daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Jeff Hill, Patti and Brian Dalton and Jessica and Mark Gavrish; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lori Budd; two brothers and sisters, Loretta Czako and her husband, Joe, Bill Mahoney and his wife, Lois, Helen Elgrim and her husband, Ken and Tom Mahoney; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Brooke, Megan, Brianna, Jeffrey, Justin, Mallory and Markie; two great- great grandchildren, Jackson and Jocelyn and lastly, Haley and Swartz, the family dog and cat.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday, December 11st at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Rd, Yardville, NJ. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Allentown. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening 6 to 8 pm and again Wednesday morning 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mercer County Wildlife Center, 1748 River Rd, Titusville, NJ 08560 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
