The Honorable Kenneth R. Camp 75, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Osceola on April 11, 1938 to the late John and Gertrude Camp.
Kenneth resided in Jonesboro for the last 45 years and grew up in Rector, AR. He was a member and Elder of the Stone Street Church of Christ. Kenneth graduated high school from Rector and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Arkansas State University. He had many successful careers. He was an agriculture teacher in Knobel, Ar, a Principal in Black Rock and he was also a Superintendent for Brookland Public Schools. Kenneth was elected as a State Legislative Representative, while serving two terms. He owned and operated IMPAC, Computer Utilities, Spectrum Teltronics, and Falco. Kenneth was also involved in the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce as the head of Legislative Affairs, Arkansas Worker’s Compensation Commission Director of the Self-insured Division, State Lobbyist, and worked as a Legislative Consultant with Stevenson & Associates and later independently. He was a member of several organizations and received many awards for his contributions and leadership.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Wanda Camp of 52 years; two sons: Kendell Camp of Jonesboro and Kemuel Camp (Donna) of Jonesboro; one daughter: Janeene Lynch (Chad) of Jonesboro; one brother: Rodney Camp of Jonesboro; two sisters: Marcia Heavrin of Jacksonville and Patty Sue Camp (Jack Howe) of Paragould; six grandchildren Kalyn Camp, Cade Lynch, Brenden Camp, Kristin Camp, Jamin Lynch, and Braden Camp; Daughter in law: Cindy Camp of Jonesboro.
Services will be 10 A.M Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home with Dick Blackford officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 P.M. at Woodland Heights in Rector. Pallbearers will be the Grandchildren as well Sam Cossey and Phil Cullison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Christenberry, Scott Stubblefield, Bob Lamb, Brent Stevenson, Herbie Byrd, and Lonnie Clark.
Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 P.M Monday, December 9, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home.
