Nancy J. (Bonham) Wiest, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham after many years of declining health.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Edwin H. Wiest in 2002.
She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late J. Earl and Mary S. (Eberly) Bonham.
Nancy grew up in Millersville, PA. She graduated from Penn State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education. She was a member of the Millersville Zion Church.
After marriage, Nancy and Ed moved to Newton where they lived for over 40 years. She then moved to Ashland and then Framingham to be near her daughters. Her “winter home” was in Vero Beach, Florida. She was an active member of the Newton Highlands Congregational Church. Nancy devoted her life to home and family. She loved music, sang in her church choir, and participated in marching band while in school. She shared that joy of music with each of her children.
She also enjoyed traveling the country and square dancing with her husband. She had an incredible passion for sports, following both collegiate and professional teams. She always had a smile on her face and made everyone around her feel comfortable and welcome.
Nancy is survived by her 5 children, Dwight Wiest and his wife Sharon of Medway, Denise Lauriat and husband Paul of Allen, TX, Diane Mryglot and husband Chuck of Framingham, Dawn Bar and husband Jim of Richardson, Tx, and Doreen Parker and husband Tom of Uxbridge.
She has 10 grandchildren, Tracy Stierer, Crissy Chinchilla, Brittany DeFrancesco, Kevin Parker, Jessica Flanagan, Chelsea and Courtney Mryglot, Ashley and Kristin Coats, and Max Wiest McKamy and 3 great grandchildren., Abby and Katie Stierer, and Preston Chinchilla.
She was the sister of Mildred Sharpless of FL, and the late Dorothy Bonham and J.Edgar Bonham.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 10, from 10:30 Am – 12 PM in the foyer of the chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St. Newton followed by her funeral service at 12 noon.
Burial will take place immediately following the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham.
