Deborah L. Banks, age 58, of North Platte, went to be with her Savior on November 28, 2013. She was born August 25, 1955 in Grand Rapids, MN to Bobby and Thelma (VanHorn) Stangel. Debbie grew up in northern Minnesota and graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School. She also attended college in Bartlesville, OK. She was united in marriage to Greg Banks on May 3, 1975 in Emily, MN and had two daughters. They continued to live in Minnesota and Iowa before moving to the North Platte area in 1995. Debbie worked in the Home Health industry for a number of years and also volunteered for the Women’s Resource Center. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Maxwell, which along with her family, was the center of her life. Debbie enjoyed making treasured quilts and wall-hangings for family and friends; she also loved having a large vegtable garden and canning. Those that will keep her memory close to them are her husband, Greg of North Platte, her daughters; Jacki (Jim) Wilkins of Geneva, NE and Jodi (Luke) Bush of Corvallis, MT, grandson; Jaeden Wilkins, four brothers; Kevin (Jeanne) Stangel of Crosby, MN, Greg (Brenda) Stangel of Byron, MN, Dale Stangel of Pine River, MN, and Brent Stangel of MN, two sisters; LeAnn (Dave) Steltenpohl of Stevens Point, WI and Kris (Brian) Lepak of Amherst, WI, numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robbie Stangel. A celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m. Tues., Dec. 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church at Maxwell, NE. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
