George Lee Christensen, age 60 of Badger, SD went home Sunday, June 1, 2008 at his home in Badger. George Lee Christensen was born September 28, 1947 at Volga, SD to Ralph and Hazel (Johnson) Christensen. He was also baptized that year at the Badger Lutheran Church. While growing up, George was involved with several activities including hunting, snowmobiling, horses, rodeos, fishing and tractor pulls. George attended school in Badger through the 8th grade. He graduated from Arlington High School and briefly attended SDSU in Brookings. George proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War in 1969 and 1970. For his services he was awarded a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He married Bonnie Jorenby on December 16, 1977 at Badger. He engaged in the family farming operation in Badger for the majority of his life and also helped to operated a family owned manufacturing business. For the last several years, George has wintered near his parents in Mesa, AZ and enjoyed spending time with his cousins in that area, Ron, Justin and Jason Legler. In his later life he took particular enjoyment in farming, flying, travel and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Todd (Renae) and Kurt, a sister, Janet Bjordahl, his parents Ralph and Hazel Christensen and a special friend Marilyn Koistinen.
