Everett K. Smith, age 52, of Gary, Indiana, born on May 1, 1961, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
He was a former resident of Hammond, Indiana, New York, NY, Key West, Florida, Atlanta Georgia and Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl D. Smith Jr., nephew, Roderick Wayne Smith Jr. and niece, Sherell Renee Gray-Clark.
He graduated from Hammond High School Class of 1979 and attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
He later enlisted and served in the United States Navy as well as the United States Coast Guard. He traveled extensively and enjoyed deep water fishing, scuba diving, sailing and fishing.
He also loved journalism and was the editor of newsletters in high school, college and while in the military.
He is survived by his devoted mother Odessa Smith of Hobart, IN; father, Carl (Juanita) Smith of Cape Coral, FL; brother, Roderick (Myra) Smith of Gary, IN; four sisters, Patricia Johnson of Gary, IN; Carlean (Robert) Gadling of East Chicago, IN; Actress (Robert) Bartlett of Oak Park, IL, Felecia “Chrissy” Bailey of Cape Coral, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street, Gary, Indiana, Reverend Paul Buck, officiating.
Visitation from 9 a.m. until funeral service begins. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery Hobart, Indiana. ~
