Stanley Otto Hoffmann, Sr.

Stanley Otto Hoffmann, Sr., age 68, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Christus Santa Rosa New Braunfels.

Stanley was born September 24, 1945, in Comal County to Otto and Vera (Stratemann) Hoffmann. He graduated from Canyon High School 1964 and married Mildred Louise Neugebauer on September 25, 1965.

Stanley is survived by his wife Mildred, daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Colby Goodson, and son Stan Hoffmann all of New Braunfels. He is also survived by granddaughters Kandra and Macie Goodson, and grandsons Kannon Goodson and Preston Hoffmann. He is survived by brothers Larry (Linda) Hoffmann and Wayne (Beverlyn) Hoffmann. His sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Allen Moehrig, preceded him in death.

In his early years Stanley was the floor covering manager for Wickes and Economy Floors. He opened his own business, Hoffmann Floors, in 1981 as president. His brother joined him in the floor covering business shortly after that.

Stanley and Mildred traveled all over the world. One of his favorite places was sleeping in a tent in Africa. He loved the beaches in Punta Cana and the snow in Switzerland. He loved playing cards and dominoes and could tell what was going to be played next. Stanley loved numbers and could solve any problem without pencil and paper. Stanley was involved in many activities in New Braunfels: Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders Association, and CCA. He was a lifetime member of Mission Valley Bowling Club, and he belonged to many other bowling clubs. He was a Eucharistic minister at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Stanley spent his spare time hunting, fishing and golfing. He encouraged his grandchildren in their activities in elementary, high school, and college. He thoroughly enjoyed attending and supporting their youth show projects. He loved singing, dancing, gardening, carpentry, card playing; a true renaissance man. He will be missed by many friends and family. He was a good man!

Visitation will be at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Tuesday, November 26, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. The memorial service is Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The reception will follow at St. Mary’s Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Stanley Hoffmann Fund.
