Kennebunk, ME—Jon C. Krueger, 71, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born in Northbridge, MA on April 25, 1942 to the late Frances (Lenfest) and Richard A. Krueger. Jon graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1960, and went to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy from 1960 to 1965. During that period of time he married Carole Morse on June 8, 1963. In 1967 he opened Krueger Pharmacy in Claremont, NH. He was president of Claremont JayCees, served on the planning and zoning boards of Claremont and was a member of the Claremont Rotary Club. Jon was a volunteer fire fighter in Unity, NH, and during the summer of 1976 he was called to Tower, MN as part of a team from New Hampshire to fight wild fires. After his success with writing a computer program for pharmacies, Jon decided to sell his pharmacy and enter the computer world. His pharmacy program and grid map information for the fire department in Unity and Claremont were recognized by IBM. A commercial was made by IBM and was televised on Face The Nation as well as being published in Time, Life and Look magazines. Jon worked with IBM traveling throughout the country giving seminars for pharmacists for three years. He then worked for A.R. Sandri Oil Company in Greenfield, MA as director of MIS. Ten years later he and Carole moved to Kennebunk, ME and he worked for Watts Fluid Air in Kittery, ME as an IT manager. He was a member of the Kennebunkport Rotary, The Congregational Church of Wells, board member of Wonderbrook Condo Association in Kennebunk, and of the Patient Advisory Council of the Southern Main Medical Center Internal Medicine Division.
After moving to Maine he continued his passion for golf and photography, often instructing his granddaughters on how to take beautiful photos of nature, sea shells and sand dollars. He loved the ocean and his family and their life there.
Jon leaves his wife Carole and their two children; a daughter, Heidi Geil, her husband Mark Geil and their children, Amy & Matthew; a son, J. Scott Krueger and his children, Emily & Stephen Krueger, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral will be held at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10 am; burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery.
