Joseph A. Mayer Jr.

U.S. Veteran

BENNINGTON

Joseph A. Mayer Jr., 57, a resident of South Stream Road, Bennington, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Bennington.

Joe was born in Bennington on January 3, 1956, son of Joseph A. Mayer Sr. and the late Theresa (McKenna) Mayer.

He received his education in the Bennington schools and attended college in St. Johnsbury. Joe also served in the U. S. Marine Corps in the 1970’s.

For many years Joe worked as a steel fabricator at the Bennington Iron Works. He was a very hard worker and will be remembered by many as a jack of all trades.

Joe was a member of the Hoosick Falls Eagles Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, singing and time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Lori (Baker) Mayer of Bennington; eight children, Stephanie Gates of Bennington, Theresa Mayer of Albany, NY, Robert Floreo of Pownal, Laci Mayer of Bennington, Timothy J. Mayer and his fiancé, Megan Yetto of Hoosick Falls, NY, Audrey Mayer of Schenectady, NY, Zachery Rose of Bennington and McKenzie Gallant of Pownal; many grandchildren; his father, Joseph A. Mayer Sr. of Bennington; a brother, Dale Mayer of Pownal and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his mother Joe was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Mayer.

Friends and relatives are invited to pay respects to the family on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 P.M. at the North Bennington Fire House.
