Kenneth Lunghofer

U.S. Veteran

KENNETH H. LUNGHOFER, age 76, of Lake Station, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born on August 10, 1937 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Ruth Lunghofer. Ken served in the US Navy and retired from Bethlehem Steel as a mobile equipment mechanic in 1995. Ken had been a volunteer firefighter for the Lake Station Fire Dept. for many years. He was previously active as a Mason and was a Past Master of the Roosevelt Lodge 716 and a former member of the M.L. McClelland Lodge No. 357. He was also formerly a very active member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City, York Rite Bodies and the South Bend Consistery. Ken was also very active in AA and had been sober for 40 years. Most recently Ken had been attending Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Anna (nee Miller); son, Mark Allen (Lori) Lunghofer of Valparaiso; daughter, Tina Marie Lunghofer of Nashville, TN;4 grandchildren, Margaret and Matthew Lunghofer, Kristopher an d Kenna Raymond; 1 brother, Paul Lunghofer of Hobart; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Robert, Joseph, and Thomas; 3 sisters, Stella, Agnes, and Della.

A visitation for Kenneth will be Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. funeral service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Graveside services are Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart.
