Dolores Jean “Dodie” Brookhart, age 90, of Logan formerly of Athens, died Monday evening, Nov. 18, 2013 at Pickering House, Lancaster.
Born Dec. 19, 1922 in Ames Township, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Malcolm & Elizabeth Flora Williams Boudinot.
A 1941 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, she retired from the Athens Mental Health Center as Supervisor of Activities Geriatrics. She attended the First Baptist Church, Athens. She was a member of the Golden Wings CB Club and the Public Employees Retirement, Inc. where she was past secretary of District 8 Chapter 44. She was a volunteer at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital and participated at the hospital in the Senior Beat Program
Dodie is survived by a daughter & son in law, Debbie & Roger Hinerman of Logan; four grandchildren, Julie Vollmer and her partner Nevada Allen of New Market, IN, Kendra (Casey) Myers of Logan, Teri (Jamie) Hickey of Laurelville, and Gina (Bryan) Redding of Huntersville, NC; several great grandchildren; a brother in law and several sisters in law- Vivian (Phil) Ridenour of Athens, Hallie Vore of The Plains, Florence Sprague of Bradenton, Fla., Jeannie Brookhart of Albany and Danny (Norvella ) Brookhart of Athens. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John “Johnny B.” Brookhart in 1996; a daughter, Karen Brookhart; a grandson, Jon-David Allen; a step granddaughter, Sara Hinerman; a sister, Betty Brookhart; sisters in law- Dorthy Hunter, Theda Ritchie; brothers in law- Ed Vore, Carl & Thelbert “Sox” Brookhart.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 11:00am at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Phil Ridenour officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the funeral home.
