Thomas Joseph Jeppson, 81, of Spring Valley, died at 9:35 AM Monday, November18, 2013 at Heritage Health, Peru.
Prayers will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, November 22 at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Parish of the Nativity of Our Lord, (510 Richard Mautino Drive). The Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will follow at Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley.
Mr. Jeppson was born on March 14, 1932 in Granville, IL to Joseph and Josephine (Kostellic) Jeppson. He married Rheta Mack on November 30, 1957. He was a graduate of Hennepin High School. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956, stationed in Germany and France.
Mr. Jeppson worked as an insulator for Heat and Frost Insulators-Local 17 for 35 years. He also farmed for the Jim and Hazel Henning family at Henning Farms in the Putnam County area for the past 8 years. He was a member of the Parish of the Nativity of Our Lord (formerly St. Anthony’s) since 1966, serving as an usher and money collector.
Survivors include his wife, Rheta, of Spring Valley; two sons, Kevin (Rita) Jeppson of Spring Valley and Kurt (Denise) Jeppson of Granville; a daughter, Kathy Jeppson, of Spring Valley; five grandchildren, Tom, Shawn, Joe, and Jessica Jeppson, and Gina Worden; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Theresa Bence of Granville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and David.
