John Stephen “Steve” Eades, 73, of Cumming, GA passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Northside Hospital Forsyth, Cumming, GA. Steve was a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church and has lived in the Cumming area for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Serving for 3 years and was stationed in Turkey for 18 months.
He is preceded in death by parents, John Eades and Thelma Teaque Eades; stepmother, Cecelia Eades; brother, Hilton Eades, Sr.; and sister, Ellen Eades Griffin.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra McRee Eades of Cumming, GA; sons, Justin and Kim Eades of Cumming, GA and Mark and Kristi Eades of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Trey Johnson, Dakota Eades, Cody Eades, Cooper Eades and Ella Eades; nephew, Hilton Eades, Jr. and wife Claudia Eades of Raleigh, NC; niece, Leigh Ann Fowler and husband, Bob of Zebulon, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was a loving and phenomenal dad who hunted, fished, played golf and spent many hours with his boys (as he called them). They would leave in their “truck” in the early morning hours, singing bluegrass music and enjoying each other’s company. He was a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist and would drive to Athens to take his training, being among the first of the Georgia Master Naturalists.
In 1965, Steve joined Marion Laboratories as a pharmaceutical representative, winning several sales awards and was inducted into the exclusive MMD Club of the company. He retired in 1996 to spend more time with his wife and family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at the Cumming First United Methodist Church, Cumming, GA, with Full Military Honors by Forsyth County Veterans Alliance. The Reverends Dr. Malone Dodson and Kathie Stasko will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McDonald & Son Funeral Home & Crematory in Cumming, GA.
