R. Wayne Wolfsen, age 74 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his home. Wayne was born on January 25, 1939 in Fremont to Richard J. and June (Webster) Wolfsen and graduated from Fremont High School and later Michigan State University with a degree in Business Administration. Wayne married Sharon Flinton on August 6, 1960 in White Cloud. Wayne started working at Fremont Farm Equipment at an early age and worked for over 60 years in the tractor implement sales and service business. Wayne later took over ownership of the business from his father which later became The Power Shop in 1988 and which he was currently co-owner . Wayne was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, reading, snowmobiling and traveling.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; his daughters, Cheri (Ross) Spoelma of Fremont; Jennifer (Jason) Gaul of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Margaret “Bogey” Greco of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Evie Hollerbach (Brandon Moore); Ben Hollerbach; Lauren Gaul; his sister, Peggy (Dave) Benham of Newaygo; brother-in-law, Art DeMars of Holton; his mother-in-law, Alice Flinton of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Joy Wolfsen in 1988; his son, R. Scott Wolfsen in 2010; his sisters, Dixie and Barbara.
VISITATION : Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1pm at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS : Fremont Area Community Foundation Endowment Fund for the Fremont Christian School.
