Eula Faye Bryd

Eula Faye Byrd GATE CITY - Eula Faye Moody Burke Byrd, 73, passed away November 12, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born April 27, 1940 in Sullivan County to the late Robert "Bob" Moody and Helen Jones Moody and was of the Baptist faith. "Mama Faye" loved her family and friends, crafting, crocheting, and a good laugh. Her home was always open, welcoming anyone in need. She was retired from Kingsport Press. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, H. Henry Byrd, Jr.; son, Jerry Burke and daughter, Anita Burke Bragg. Survivors include, daughter Melissa Crawford and fiancé Chuck Smith, son Jeff Burke and wife Pam, son Mark Burke and girlfriend Selena Williams all of Gate City; grandchildren Scott Hill, Nathan Burke, Ally Burke, Nikki Hill, Andy Burke, Jessica Burke and Shannon Burke, great-grandchildren Carter Derting and Colten Burke, son-in-law Larry “Harpo” Bragg. She is also survived by her twin sister Beulah Kaye Leonard, and husband, Joe, Blountville; Ina Owens, Kingsport; Nina Hughes, Piney Flats and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to invite family and friends to Faye's Home at 236 Easter Lilly Lane, E. Carter's Valley on Friday November 15, 2013 evening at 6:00 p.m. for a gathering to remember this wonderful woman. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Tony Smith officiating at the Byrd Family Cemetery, 192 Geranium Drive East Carters Valley Gate City, Va. 24251. The family would like to give a special thanks to Selena Williams for taking such good loving care of their mother. Faye loved her like a daughter.
