Joseph G. Ballard, 84, of North Ridgeville, formerly a long-time resident of North Olmsted, passed away Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the West Bay Center in Westlake. He was born November 29, 1928 in Greenville, North Carolina. He was a veteran and served in the US Army Air Corp. Mr. Ballard was a professional photographer and he owned Nelson’s Photography since 1971. He was an active member of Columbia Road Baptist Church in North Olmsted for 40 years, where he was a marriage counselor, Sunday school teacher and a member of the finance committee. Mr. Ballard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry (nee Hall); two daughters, Pat Batke (Ray) and Vikki Kay (Todd); four sons, Joe Jr., Don, Ronald and Jeff; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Doris Edmondson and Jeannette Jones. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Scott Ballard; by one sister, Christine Glisson; by one brother, Roy Ballard; and by his parents, Charlie and Velma Ballard. Funeral Services will be Saturday November 16, 2013 at 11:00am at Columbia Road Baptist Church, 4116 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted (44070). Pastor Alan Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in North Olmsted where members from VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, will conduct full military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church.
