Ruby I. Callahan, 88, of Paxton died at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at ASTA Care Center of Ford County, Paxton.
A private family service will be held. There will be no visitation. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.
Ruby was born November 25, 1924 in Graves County, KY, a daughter of Curtis Elton and Mary Matilene Prince Latham. She married James A. Callahan June 2, 1949 in Chicago. He survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, John Camadeca of Boca Raton, FL, James Michael “Mike” (Renee) Callahan of Youngsville, NC; 3 daughters, Paula (Dean) Alpers of Oak Forest, Toni (Larry) Hensel of Fairborn, OH, Darlene (Joe) DePasquale of Crystal River, FL and formerly of Paxton; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Ruby grew up in the Harvey and Homewood, IL areas. She lived in Hazel Crest for 15 years and in Park Forest for 30 years before moving to Paxton in 2002. She and her husband wintered in Clewiston and Avon Park, FL for 30 years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing and walking.
