Charles Graham Hurst

U.S. Veteran

Charles Graham Hurst, of Savannah Georgia, passed through the pearly gates to be with his Heavenly Father on November 10, 2013. He went peacefully at Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 3, 1926. Graham was “ready to go home” to be with Eleanor his beloved wife of 65 years. He graduated from Savannah High. He then went to Clemson University for two years before joining the United States Army, where he served as an infantryman in Germany and received a Purple Heart. In 1946, he married Eleanor Proctor who he met at Bull Street Baptist Church. Graham joined the FBI as a Special Agent after completing his bachelor’s degree at Georgia Tech in 1950. Most of his career with the FBI was spent in Miami, Florida. He retired in 1974. Graham and Eleanor then moved to Hendersonville, NC, and spent 18 happy years in their beautiful mountain-top home at “The Edge of Heaven” before returning to Savannah in 1992. Upon their return, they resumed our relationship with Bull Street Baptist. God gave them both an opportunity to work with young people most of their lives and it was a wonderful, blessed experience.

Graham is survived by his daughter, Christina Hurst Duffy, and his son-in-law, Kirk Mallory Duffy, of Savannah.

Graham has requested that there be no funeral and that everyone who knew and loved him sit back, enjoy their memories of him, recall his smile, and remember the many pearls of wisdom he shared.

The family wishes to thank Earnie Pirkle, Graham’s long-time pastor and friend, for his spiritual leadership and many kindnesses during the past 21 years. Also Dr. Bob Beard provided many years of sensitive and caring medical care. Lillian Hill was a God-send for her loving care for both Eleanor and Graham over the past 3 years. Phillip Drauahm was also a gentle & patient companion. Eleanor/Graham my “precious treasures”

From behind a smile, Christina XO
