Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 2:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness', 57 Caw Caw Highway, St. Matthews, SC. Burial will follow in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC. Viewing will be on Tuesday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness'.
Ms. Vernelle Wright Golden was born May 20, 1933, the daughter of the late Lucille Wright and the late Arthur McClinton, both of Calhoun County. She departed this life on Saturday, November 8, 2013 at 5:30 am in the comfort of her home in Saint Matthews, South Carolina.
Ms. Golden was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County and graduated from John Ford High School. She started her career in Domestic Services caring for families in Calhoun County. On December 2, 1965, she started her career in Health Services as a Nurse Assistant with the Calhoun County Health Department. She retired on March 31, 1994.
At an early age, she became a member of Antioch Baptist Church and served in numerous ministries for many years. On November 4, 1995, she became a Baptized servant of Jehovah's Witness' where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She was united in marriage to the late Mr. Curtis Golden in 1954.
Ms. Golden was preceded in death by two sisters: Ferchene Wright Cheeseboro and Barbara McClinton-Robinson; and three brothers: Marvin McClinton, Marion McClinton and Freddie Johnson.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: her son, Orangeburg County Deputy Coroner James Lanier Golden, Sr. of St. Matthews, SC; her daughter, Brenda Louise Lowman, of the home; six grandchildren, Valencia Nicole Golden, of Los Angeles, CA (who was reared in the home), Ashantris Laurian-Loretta Delay-Blake, of Winston-Salem, NC, Anansa Briyahn De'Lay-Randolph, of Saint Matthews, SC; David Renaldo McDaniel of Swansea, SC; James Lanier Golden, Jr. of Beaufort, SC and Orangeburg County Deputy Coroner Lindsey Veronica Golden, of Saint Matthews, SC; two sisters: Arthuree McClinton-Woodberry (Robert) and Carolyn McClinton; two brothers: Harold McClinton and Johnny McClinton; seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives many dear friends.
