Fort Blackmore, VA Jacqueline “Jackie” Starnes, age 75, of Fort Blackmore, VA passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 unexpectedly. She was born in Lynchburg, VA on May 7, 1938 and resided in Florida since 1985. Jackie was Editor of Mademoiselle Magazine and Advertising and Promotion Director for 2 major retailers, then Director of Advertising and Promotion for Wig Fiber Group of Monsanto Textile Corporation. She also taught at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and the University of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob Culler and Vera Johnson. Jackie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Milton Starnes, aunt Rose Karam of Charlotte, NC, and a group of 1st cousins with whom she was very close with and a special relationship with them and their children. Jackie liked everyone and would help anyone. A memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Jackie Strickler at 5:00 pm Thursday, November 7, 2013 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to thank the many medical professionals who helped extend her life after her liver transplant 12 years ago.
