Gerald Lee Booth, 73, of Spring Mill Rd., Concord, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Sally Steele Booth.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on September 18, 1940, he was a son of the late Mary Steppe and William Owen Booth. He was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church and worked as a butcher at Carson’s Store for 39 years until his retirement. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, and he especially enjoyed a friendly wager on football and baseball with Big Head, Lucky, and Little Lucky.
In addition to his wife, Sally, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ramsey Shelton; a grandson, Patrick Shelton; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Janet Booth all of Concord; a niece, Deborah Summers and her husband, Dr. Matt Summers; a nephew, Charlie Booth; and a great nephew, W. Owen Summers.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynnette Booth.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Tim Dooley. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
