Vernette Ackerman

Vernette Ackerman, 78, of Hanahan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013, surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11 o’clock at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.

Vernette was born on June 22, 1935 to the late Charlie and Bessie Wilder of Holly Hill, SC. She was a devoted mother and grandmother all of her life. She enjoyed waking up and taking care of children, spending her afternoons with the Young and the Restless, and watching the sunset on the front porch. Her home was always open to family and friends and you could bet she would be determined to feed you-hungry or not. Those who knew her will forever miss her warm heart and gentle soul.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 508 Hampton Street, Ste. 200, Columbia, SC 29201 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

There, to welcome her to our Lord, along with her parents are her husband, David English Ackerman of Walterboro, SC and her brother Robert Wilder of Holly Hill, SC.

She leaves behind her sister Marie Robison of Apopka, FL, her brother, Sherlin Wilder of North Charleston, SC, two adoring sons; Donald Ackerman (Dawn) of Titusville, FL and Charles Ackerman of North Charleston, SC, four cherished daughters; Barbara McKettrick of North Charleston, SC, Brenda Hoskins (Bobby) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Bonnie Mincey of Hanahan, SC, and Lisa Livingston (Shawn) of Daniel Island, SC; ten beloved grandchildren and eight treasured great grands.
