Lawrence J. Hartung, 86, of 606 Hillcrest Drive, Monticello, Iowa, died, Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 9:50 p.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Lawrence may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a Scripture service will be held at 4:00 p.m with Rev. Paul Baldwin.
Services for Lawrence will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Bellevue, Iowa, with Rev. Phil Kruse officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bellevue, Iowa.
Lawrence was born August 25, 1927 in Bellevue, Iowa, son of Meinrad and Ruth (Tucker) Hartung. He is a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Bellevue, Iowa. Lawrence was a retired farmer In the Bellevue area.
On November 4, 1989 he was united in marriage to Rita (Noonan) Ries. Lawrence was a member of the Bellevue Knights of Columbus-Council # 1354
He is survived by his wife, Rita Hartung of Monticello, Iowa; step daughters, Maureen (Joe) McEvoy of Central City, IA, Patricia (Jim) Kula of Hopkinton, IA ; step grandchildren, Brian, Jessica and Andrew McEvoy; his sisters, Kathleen Kilburg of Bellevue, IA, Bernice Snyder of Menominee, WI, Mary (Earl) Fischer of Cascade, IA, and Madonna (Charles) Kirk of Bellevue, IA; sisters-in-law, Bernadine Hartung of Preston, IA, Ann Noonan of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Kay Noonan of Prairieburg, IA .
He is preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Loras, and a brother Joseph Hartung; brothers-in-law, Alfred Snyder, Leroy Kilburg, Norbert, Merlin, Delbert and Richard Noonan and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Pagani.
