Joseph Lavone Dukes, Sr.

U.S. Veteran

Joseph Lavone Dukes, Sr., 70, originally from Columbus, Georgia, passed-away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home in Fortson, Georgia. Memorial services for Mr. Dukes will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Bigham Chapel United Methodist Church 224 Fortson Road Fortson, GA.

Mr. Dukes was born January 9, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Goldie Gladys and Homer Dukes. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Dukes was employed as a jet engine technician with General Electric in California and retired with 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Sue Dukes of Fortson, Georgia; daughter: Shannon Burress of Chino, CA; four sons: Joseph L. Dukes, Jr. of Mennife, CA, Jeffery Dukes of Salt Lake City, UT, John Dukes of Chino, CA, and Kevin Dukes of Whitefish, MT; two step-sons: Barry A. Scott and Brandon D. Scott both of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Along with a host of family and friends that he cherished.
