GEORGIA DELIS HOOK, 83, of Westlake, Ohio and Palm Desert, California passed away on October 29, 2013. She was born on April 23, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio and made her home in Bay Village, Ohio from 1965 until 2011 when she moved to Westlake, Ohio. Her winter home was in Palm Desert, California, where she lived for 18 years. Georgia graduated from Lorain High School (1947), and received her B.S. Degree from Baldwin Wallace University (1952) and her MBA degree from Indiana University (1957). She was a trustee of Baldwin Wallace for 27 years and received an Honorary Doctor’s degree in 2004. Georgia was active in civic affairs over her lifetime and participated in numerous fund raising activities including The Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival and television station WVIZ. She was a member of the Rocky River United Methodist Church for 45 years and sang in the church choir. More recently, she was a member of the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church in Palm Desert, California. She was a volunteer at Lakewood Hospital for over 15 years. Georgia enjoyed tennis, skiing, golf, bridge, photography, boating and hiking, and was inducted into the Baldwin Wallace Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Georgia was passionate about traveling in the US, including visiting every one of the 50 states’ capital buildings and over 65 countries around the world. She was fluent in Greek and made numerous trips to her father’s home village in Greece. In 2000, at age 70, she traveled around the world for the second time, by herself over six weeks. In 2002, she became a member of the historic Circumnavigators’s Club whose members have traveled around the world in a single trip. She documented with pictures each trip and has approximately 250 photo albums. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and godmother, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, John B. Hook, and her children David John Hook of Dallas, Texas, and Deborah Delis Jones of Seattle, Washington. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Whitney Jones and Ryan Delis Jones. Georgia is survived by her two sisters, Alekie Delis Bennhoff and Alexandria Delis Abrams. A third sister, Clara Delis Corogin, passed away on August 29, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter P. Delis and Anna Yuresko Delis. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 4:00-8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on FRIDAY, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Rocky River United Methodist Church, 19414 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, Ohio. A reception in the church will follow the service.
