Mrs. Leona E. Moore, age 92, died Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. She was born in Georgia, May 16, 1921, daughter of the late John and Alzina Mayo. Leona worked many years as a cashier and sales lady for Fishman’s Department Store, Bray’s Store, Blouin’s IGA, and Champlain Farms. At Champlain Farms, she will be remembered for caring for the truck drivers. She retired in 1999. Leona married George P. Moore, August 18, 1956, and Mr. Moore died January 30, 1998. Leona was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1090, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit #758, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1, and the Franklin County Senior Center. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, going to the casino, and playing bingo.
Leona is survived by her 4 children, Beverly Kemp and her husband George, Wayne King and his wife Ann all of Highgate Center, Gary King and Deb Chevrier of St. Albans, and Deborah Gilbert of Georgia, 10 grandchildren, Tyler and Conner Gilbert, Mark and Amy Kemp, Kimberlee Lussier and Bob Dugan, Brian and Gina Kemp, Kellee and William Paradee, Randy and Linda King, Timothy King, Kevin and Debbie King, and Adam King, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a special aunt Elaine Larivee. She was predeceased by her husband George Moore, and 2 grandsons Wayne Allen King and George Sherman Gilbert.
A funeral service for Mrs. Leona E. Moore, will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Interment will be in the Moore family lot in Hope Cemetery in Georgia.
