Donald James Suppes, age 72, passed away on Friday October 25th, 2013 at home with his family by his side. Don was raised in Hector MN. and was married to his long time sweet heart Valerie Hanson for 29 years. Don attended the University of Minnesota, studied in Europe and was a board certified architect in 7 states. As the final founding father of RSP Architects in Minneapolis, Don took much pride in his design experiences. After retiring in 1987 he pursued his interests in travel and motorcycling. Many hours were spent riding his Harley with whom he dubbed “the hells architects.” Don lived in Austin, Texas for several years with his companion Kathy McClarty. He also participated in an adoption ceremony on the Lame deer reservation in Montana in 1993. Don spent time in Cay Caulker, Belize, Japan, China, Italy, and throughout Europe.
Don is survived by 3 siblings Pat (Dick) Mihm, Jan (Steve) Graning, Tom (Janis) Suppes, 2 daughters Gwen (Dave) Anderson, Lynn (Aaron) Schacht and 6 grandchildren, Cody Anderson, Luke Anderson, Andy Wallen, and Ben, Molly, Betsy Schacht. Don is preceded in death by his parents Jake and Caroline (Youngquist) Suppes. Don’s life will be celebrated on Thurs. October 31, 2013 from 5 – 8pm at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 Broadway Street East, Monticello MN. There will be a short prayer service at 7pm and sweet treats to follow.
