Heinz Otto Punkosdy

U.S. Veteran

Mr. Heinz Otto Punkosdy passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was born on August 19, 1945 in Einbeck, Germany to the late Otto and Stefanie Hrabock Punkosdy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Freddy Punkosdy.

Mr. Punkosdy served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was decorated with the Purple Heart for being wounded in battle. He was a member of Steadman Baptist Church and the Haralson County Veterans Association.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Haney Punkosdy of Tallapoosa; daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie Punkosdy of Newburgh, NY, Ramona Punkosdy of Villa Rica, GA, Pamela and Jeff Bodiford, and Annabelle Warren, all of Tallapoosa; sons and daughter-in-law, Heinz Punkosdy, Jr., Henry Punkosdy, and Brian Punkosdy, all of Newburgh, NY, George Punkosdy of Atlanta, GA, and Michael and Jill Punkosdy of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren; and brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny and Patricia Punkosdy of Bremen, GA, and Erwin Punkosdy of Buchanan, GA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Steadman Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Robinson officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Pallbearers serving will be Eric Sisson,Chuck Weatherby, Wayne Crosby, Jason Haney, Jacob Hales, and Jimmy Thrower.

Interment will follow in the Steadman Church Cemetery with the Haralson County Veterans Association providing full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM.
