Sarah Bunch, daughter of Ulysses Lambright who preceded her in death, was born on September 20, 1945 in Holly Hill, SC. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Medical University of South Carolina after an extended illness.
Sarah was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, aunt and most of all Mother and Grandmother. She spent her life catering to others and making sure everyone around her had what was needed. She wasn’t afraid to tell you how it was and hold your hand through any craziness you may begoing through. She was the true definition of a Christian and she proved that until she took her last breath. God showed her favor.
In 1992 after seeing the birth of her first grandchild, Sarah fell ill. The doctors told the family that she wouldn’t make it through the night. Sarah, being the character she is, along with the grace and mercy of the mosthigh proved them wrong. She went on to live a glorious twenty-one years to see all of her grandchildren, spank all of her grand-children, spoil all of her grandchildren and showall of her grand-children her undying love. Proof positive that when God says yes, no man can say no.
Sarah was educated in the public schools of Holly Hill, SC in Orangeburg,County.
She was joined into Holy Matrimony to Edwards Bunch, Sr. on September 11, 1965 and relocated to the Bronx, NY. Her loving husband preceded her in death on December 14, 1985.
She was employed by the New York City Board of Education until she retired in 1993. Sarah’s passion was children. She always surrounded herself with them from her own children, to the children she worked around, securing their safety every day in the public schools in New York, to the kids in the neighborhood, down to all the children in her family. She was a great example of how to walk in faith. She was a mentor that anyone would be happy to have around their child. Sarah was one that would feed you, cloth you and give you her last dollar.
She returned to her home in Holly Hill, SC in 1995 and became a faithful member of Greater Unity AME Church until her illness in February, 2012.
Sarah leaves to cherish her memories: her five children, Linda (Arturo) Marquez, of Bronx, NY, Edward (Gwen) Bunch, of Albany, NY, Larry Bunch and fiancé Brenda Long, of Bronx, NY, Natasha (Cliff) Frasier, of Charleston, SC and Joshua (Tamika) Bunch, of Charleston, SC; her Grandchildren, Dominque Marquez, Brianna Marquez, Niaja Marquez all of Bronx, NY, Christopher Frasier, Kahlil Bunch, Larry Bunch, Jr., Shakyra Bunch, Jah’mari Short, Anaya Bunch and Jade Bunch all of Charleston, SC; her sisters, Josephine (William) Holman of Holly Hill, Roslyn Nicholson, of Brooklyn, NY, Peggy (Bollie) Brown, Vallie Bennett, Annie Mae (Tommie) Profit and Reather Mae (James) Richburg all of Holly Hill; her brothers, Sammie (Lavern) Lambright, James (Jeanette) Lambright, all of Holly Hill, Willie (Shirley) Lambright, of Cordova, Oneal (Alicia) Lambright, of Holly Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
