Beverly W. Hanson, age 74, of Brule, Wisconsin, peacefully went into the arms of Jesus, with her family by her side, following a long battle with multiple medical conditions, on October 24, 2013, at Saint Luke’s Hospital, in Duluth, Minnesota.
Beverly was born on April 17, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Robert F. and Audrey L. (McConkey) Exferd. She graduated from Lincoln High School, in Des Moines, in 1957, and moved to northern Wisconsin in 1964. Bev attended Ashland County Teachers College where she met Louis Hanson. They were united in marriage on December 29, 1967. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin Superior. She loved children and pursued a teaching career in the Bayfield and South Shore School Districts. She poured her life into her family, raising her daughters and being a caregiver to several family members. She loved talking about and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very generous, loved music, had a silly sense of humor, loved to laugh and read. She always loved to go places and be around people. Bev was blessed to call Grace Baptist Church, in Iron River, Wisconsin, and Mission Covenant, in Poplar, Wisconsin, her church families. She lived in Brule, with her brother, Dale, for many years.
Survivors include: her daughters: Heidi (Rich) Larson, of Mason, Wisconsin; Greta (William) Ask, of Eagan, Minnesota; grandchildren: Riley, Reece, Ross, Kali, Kato, Kimo, and Kaya; her brothers: Dale Exferd, of Brule; and Larry (Linda) Exferd, of Iron River; her niece, Tia; and nephew, Jason.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sister, Shirley; and the father of her children, Louis Hanson.
A visitation, for family and friends, will be held at the Grace Baptist Church, in Iron River, beginning at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, and continuing until the hour of the service.
Funeral services, for Beverly, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Grace Baptist Church, in Iron River. Officiants will include: Pastor Rich Larson, Pastor Joe Brygger, Pastor Tom Blomberg, and Pastor Carey Vik. Jason Exferd will be an honorary bearer. Her casket bearers will include: Kali Ask, Kato Ask, Kimo Ask, Riley Larson, Reece Larson and Ross Larson.
Interment in the Iron River Cemetery will follow the service.
