William A. Liptrot

U.S. Veteran

William A. Liptrot of Levittown died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Sierra Oaks Nursing Home in Bensalem. He was 84.

Born and raised in Fairhope, PA, Mr. Liptrot was an original Levittown homeowner in Middletown Township for 55 years.

He was a graduate of Marion High School and Temple University where he received his Bachelors degree education. After graduating he joined the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and was discharged as a First Lieutenant. He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves until 1964.

Mr. Liptrot was a former teacher at Fountain Hill Elementary School for several years and then went on to become a sales representative with Smith/Kline Pharmaceuticals for 35 years until retiring. After retiring he served as a code enforcement officer in Middletown Township for many years.

In earlier years, Mr. Liptrot was active with the Middletown little league and was active in the founding of the Middletown Soccer Association. He was very active in scouting and was himself a proud Eagle Scout.

Mr. Liptrot was the beloved husband of Mary (Fox) Liptrot for 62 years.

He was the loving father of Thomas and his wife Joan Liptrot of Levittown, Pete and his wife Suzette Liptrot of Levittown, Mike and his wife Jennifer Liptrot of Raleigh, NC and the late Sharon Bloom.

He was the devoted grandfather of Bryan, William, Rebecca, Patrick and Ellen and the great grandfather of Adria and Chloe.

He was the brother of Peg Buchanan of Richmond, VA and will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Friends may also call on from Tuesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m at the funeral home where his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucks County Council Boy Scouts of America, 1 Scout Way, Doylestown, PA 18901.
