C.L. “Charles” Bowling age 82 of Quapaw, Oklahoma passed away, Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1931 in Picher, Oklahoma the son of Langston Lankford & Mattie Arminta Bowling.
He was united in marriage to Sylvia Loraine Bowling in 1947. In 1965 he established C.L’s Gun shop and has been a gunsmith for most of his life. He also worked for the Civil Defense, was an auxiliary police officer and worked as a security guard at Integris Baptist Hospital in Miami. He also worked at BF Goodrich, retiring after many years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia, 4 brothers, Glen Bowling, Merel Bowling, Auzy Bowling and Joey Bowling, 1 sister, Anna Lee Unger and a grandson, Keith Holder.
He is survived by 2 sons, Larry Bowling and his wife Kathy of Miami, Oklahoma and Tom Bowling and his wife, Yaddy of Quapaw, Oklahoma, 3 daughters, Linda Gann of Perth, Western Australia, Arminta Holder and her husband, Bill of Quapaw, Oklahoma and Becky Tahmasian of Miami, Oklahoma. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for C.L. “Charles” Bowling will be held, 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.paulthomasfuneralhomes.com.
