Rita Helen McAllister

Rita H. McAllister age 88 of Peck died October 17, 2013. She was born October 25, 1925 in Speaker Township to Fred and Velma Lawler. Rita graduated from Peck High School Class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Lloyd J. McAllister on November 29, 1947. A mother, grandmother, great grandmother and farmer’s wife Rita had also worked at Peck Community Schools for 10 years. An active volunteer; Rita was a staunch supporter of the Peck Pirates Boosters for years and was involved with Sanilac Council on Aging. She served on several boards including Sanilac County Health Department and was a member of St John’s Catholic Church. Rita loved to dance, especially polkas and was a member of various polka dance clubs. She is survived by four children Duane and his wife Susan McAllister, Darlene McClelland, Diane McAllister, Denise McAllister-Randal and her husband Mike, four grandchildren Stephanie McClelland, Tawnya (McAllister) Jesswani and her husband Aneck , Shelly Baumeister and her husband Al and Tasha McAllister, four great grandchildren Charity Mirival, Simaya Jesswani, Addison Baumeister and Thomas Baumeister. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Lloyd J. McAllister, a brother and sister in law Robert and Helen Lawler and a son in law Thomas McClelland. A gathering and viewing in remembrance and to celebrate her life will be Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Parrish Hall in Peck behind the church. A Scripture reading will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Elk Township Cemetery.
