James Edward Roberson, 78, of Trussville, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 17, 2013. He is at peace. A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville, Alabama. Officiating will be his cousin, Reverend Shirley Roberson, and lifelong friends, Leroy Tindal and Pete Newton with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Memorials may be made to WO Parmer Scholarship Fund, attn: Pete Hamilton P O Drawer 9, Greenville, AL 36037. Jimmie was born June 19, 1935 to William Edward “Ed” and Grace “Bay” Roberson. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1953 and from the University of Alabama in 1957 with a degree in Accounting. He later obtained an MBA from Louisiana State University. He married the former Dorothy Camille Compton on December 22, 1957. He served ten years in the United States Army as an army aviator and attained the rank of Major. During this time he was assigned to tours in Korea and Vietnam, where he served in the First Calvary Division. While in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service while in combat, the United States Air Medal for meritorious achievement during aerial flight combat, the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in combat, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He maintained a love for flying throughout his life. After the Army, he returned to his home state of Alabama and became a Certified Public Accountant. During his forty year career, he served in a variety of controller and financial officer capacities using his keen attention to detail in guiding many businesses in accomplishing their goals. When he was not working, he enjoyed a variety of activities during his life – attending church regularly, fishing, carpentry, sailing, and was a member of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Camille, of 55 years, daughter, Renee (Luke) Reid of Aiken, South Carolina, granddaughter, Ashley Reid, sisters, June Pryor of Birmingham, AL and Sue (Kyle) Arnold of Greenville, AL, brother, Robert (Joyce) Roberson of Birmingham, AL, sister-in-law, Sharon Mackin of Selma, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ellen. Jimmie was a loving person and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
