Green Island – Joyce M. Carlow, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Green Island, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace McNab Carlow. Joyce had been employed by Thompson Construction in Albany as an administrative assistant in the 1970’s and 80’s and then worked as a real estate agent for Roberts Realty, Weichert Realty and most recently with Realty USA. Joyce was a passionate volunteer for Bethany House in Troy, organizing many golf outings and other fundraising events for the charity. She had been a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island. She is the sister of Grace (late William) Lennon of Cohoes, Marion (Everett) Rivers of Cohoes and the late John F. Carlow, Jr. Joyce is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and very dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated by her dear friend, Father Tom Kelly, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, corner of 25th Street and 7th Avenue in Watervliet, on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. At Joyce’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Because of Joyce’s passion to help the less fortunate, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in memory of Joyce to Bethany House/Unity House, 2431 Sixth Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
