John N. Zorich

Born December 3, 1933 in Bozava, Croatia; died October 9, 2013 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland.

Survived by Karmela, his loving wife of 61 years; his daughter, Branka Skific (Emil); son, Mike Zorich (Gail); grandchildren, Alice, Lorie, Michelle and Andy; great-grandchildren, Sophia and George; his siblings, Dinka, Angelo, Zdenko; and their families.

John left Croatia as a young man to provide for his extended family. He worked in the auto industry in France for 4 years before immigrating to the United States in 1961. With the help of his uncles and cousins, John settled in Seattle working for the Zorich clan in the West Seattle and Queen Anne Thriftway stores. In the mid 1960s, John returned to work as cabinet maker to utilize his carpentry apprenticeship from the "old country". John retired in 1995 from the University of Washington after 27 years of service. The last 17 years John and Karmela split their time between residences in Lynnwood and Bozava, Croatia.

The Johnnie loved to share a good meal and glass of wine with friends and family. He was always curious to know how everyone was. John had a love for life and family. He taught us how to enjoy life. His spirit and love of life will be greatly missed.

The family is grateful to the angels at Evergreen Hospice and SCCA for all the wonderful care they provided in the past year.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Monday, October 14th at 7 PM at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Chapel 508 N 36th St, Seattle. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 15th at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church 6511 176th St SW, Lynnwood.

Remembrances may be made to Evergreen Hospice, SCCA or St Thomas Moore parish.
