Marilyn Borzea

Marilyn Helen Borzea,74, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A long time resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mrs. Borzea died following a sudden illness.

She was born on June 2, 1939 in Holladay, Utah, the daughter of the late Albert and Eva Schmidt.

Mrs. Borzea attended schools in Holladay, Utah and graduated from the Olympus High School in 1958.

She married Patrick J. Borzea in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 10, 1960.

Mrs. Borzea’s interests included spending time with her family especially her husband; watching movies, word games, avid baseball fan, camping, watching wildlife and her dogs.

She received a lung transplant on September 13, 1999. Mrs. Borzea was one of the longest survivors to date that has had a lung transplant. Her University of Utah treatment team provided love and support to their cherished patient until she passed away.

Survivors include her husband Pat J.Borzea of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one son Ken Borzea and wife Kim of Green River, Wyoming; two brothers George Schmit and Tom Schmidt and wife Lorraine all of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren Melissa Marie Stapelton and husband Kyle of Evans, Colorado, Kristin Renee Irene and husband Brian of Green River, Wyoming, and Kenneth Wayne Borzea of Green River, Wyoming; two great-granddaughters Halle Renee Stapleton and Arabella Adelie Irene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Jack Schmidt, Harold “Gene” Schmidt, and Brent “Butch” Schmidt; three sisters including her twin sister Marge Snarr, Betty Schmidt and Judy Schmidt; one sister-in-law Nancy Schmidt.

Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
