Edward Anthony Cancro

U.S. Veteran

MR. EDWARD ANTHONY CANCRO, beloved husband of Susan Bishop Cancro passed away on Saturday October 5, 2013 at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was a former longtime resident of Clarksburg, MA. He was born in North Adams, MA on December 6, 1928, son of Anthony and Rose (Pessolano) Cancro. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Drury High School. Mr. Cancro was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Navy. He then served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. Edward was a 60-year lifetime member of Local 98 IUOE where he worked as a heavy equipment/crane operator until his retirement. He had served on their Executive Board for many years. Edward was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams and was a member of Lafayette Greylock Lodge and past Worthy Patron of Greylock Lodge AF & AM. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Susan Bishop Cancro whom he married on April 17, 1954 at the First Universalist Church in North Adams and his daughter Lisa (Robert) Moreau of Lunenburg, MA; his grandson Jonathan (Valerie) Cancro and great grandson Jackson Cancro of South Salem, NY. He also leaves his sister, Rosalie Morgan of Pownal, VT and his brother, Francis Cancro of North Adams; and is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews including his core support group of his cousin Elaine (Lawrence) Leonard of Williamstown; his nieces Lois Filiault and Corrina Cancro of North Adams and Doreen (Michael) Dix of Plainville, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Carmen G. Cancro.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A committal service for Edward Cancro will be at a later date in Clarksburg Cemetery.
