Robert “Bob” Hines, age 82, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina, MO. He was born on December 23, 1930, in Palmyra, MO, the son of Ollie Lee and Margaret E. Wilhoit Hines. On February 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Gladys Hawkins at Shelbina, MO. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2005. Bob is survived by three sons, Steve Hines and wife Kathy, Bruce Hines and wife Ronda and Kenny Hines and wife Terri, all of Shelbina, MO; eight grandchildren, Chris, Curt, Daniel, Johnathan, Kelli and Amber Hines, Caroline Bode and Gregory Rakestraw; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Phyllis Murray of Edina, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Kelly and one sister, Leta McWilliams. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Leonard High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Shelbina American Legion. He was a long time business owner of Hines Body Shop in Shelbina since 1957 and was always proud of the work his shop provided. He loved his work. Bob liked to tell jokes, enjoyed being around people and treasured the time spent with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, at 10:30 am, with burial to follow in Shelbina Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Shelbina from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2013. Memorials may be made to the Salt River Community Care, Hospice Compassus of Macon or the Donor's Choice.
