Ora E. Murdock, 74, of South Bend, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 7:40 a.m. at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart, Indiana, after battling a prolonged illness.
Ora was born in April 19, 1939 in Marianna, Arkansas to the union of Claude A. Murdock and Alberta Murdock. Both parents proceeded her in death.
Ora worked for Dr. Omali in Granger, Indiana until her health failed her. Ora professed a love in Christ at the early age of 10 when she was a member of the Walnut Grove M.B. Church in Marianna, Arkansas under the leadership of the late Rev. E.R. Gaines. She later moved to South Bend, Indiana and joined Greater St. John M.B. Church where she was a faithful member until God led her brother, Rev. Andrew Murdock Sr. to pastor Greater First Baptist Church in Kings Lake and she joined that congregation and remained a member until God called her home. Ora was a joy to be around and there was never a dull moment while in her presence. She enjoyed sewing and going to church.
Ora was the third of six children: three boys and three girls. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her brother, Pastor Andrew (Barbara) Murdock of South Bend, Calvin (Linda) Murdock of Marianna, Arkansas; and a loving aunt, Laura F. Fisk. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by both parents and grandparents; a brother, Claude T. Murdock; and two sisters, Alma Braden and Jacqueline Holmes.
Services for Mrs. Ora E. Murdock will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Greater St. John M.B. Church, 101 N. Adams St. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and services at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
