Atholl Stewart Glass, age 93, of Mundelein, IL passed away on September 20, 2013 at his home. Born March 16,1920 in Dunkeld, Scotland, to the union of George and Isabel (nee Stewart) Glass. He was the loving husband of Corrie-Lou Glass, nee Livingston; adoring father of Carol Sagawa (Don), Sheila Glass, Corrie Kasprzycki (Andrew), and Geordie Glass; cherished grandpa of Darren Sagawa, Carys, Kelen & Kiernan Kasprzycki and Rylan & Lily Glass. He was a Veteran of WWII and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Forward Observer with the Armored Tank Artillery Battalion and an Air Observer, receiving a Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle East Ribbon with 5 battle stars, the American Theater Ribbon and a Battle Field Commission during the Ardennes Campaign. Post war he graduated from Carnegie Mellon in Engineering and served in the Army Reserves. He spent 45+ years in the printing and type-setting industry including the last 12 at his own business. He had many hobbies over the years including flying small airplanes, stamp collecting, fishing, gardening traveling and being a steward at Highland Games. Described by many as the world's last true gentleman, he lived a full and meaningful life and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Visitation was Sunday September 22, 2013 from 4-8 PM. at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 West Maple Ave. (2 blocks west of Rt. 45 on Rt. 176) Mundelein. Funeral service was 11 AM.
