Mr. Leon Daniel Best

Mr. Leon Daniel Best, age 94, of 105 South Georgia Avenue, Goldsboro, NC departed his earthly life on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, NC.

Leon was born in Wayne County, NC on September 19, 1919 to the late Mr. Jonah Best and, Mrs. Annie Howell Best.

He received his education in the public schools of Wayne County.

Mr. Best served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

He was married to the late Mrs. Edith Joyner Best for over 40 years and to that union one child was born and she preceded him in death.

In1996, he married Mrs. Annie McKinnie Chavis.

Brother Best was a member of the Goldsboro Chapel FWB Church and served in many capacities.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, September 27, 2013, at 12:00 noon from the Goldsboro Chapel FWB Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, NC. Elder James E. Collins will preside.

Interment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 US Hwy 117 South, Dudley, NC.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 South George Street, Goldsboro, NC from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to receive other family members and friends.

Mr. Best leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to: his wife, Mrs. Annie Chavis Best of Goldsboro, NC; his daughter, Attorney Natarlin Best of Ayden, NC; his stepson, Anthony Chavis of Goldsboro, NC, their special pet, Trixie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at the home place, 105 South Georgia Avenue, Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Family and friends will assemble one hour prior, 10:50 a.m., at 105 South Georgia Avenue, Goldsboro, North Carolina in preparation for the funeral procession.
