Marie Ruth Bogyo-Zielke, born on May 31, 1931, departed from this life on September 19, 2013. She was born in Glidden, Wisconsin and lived her entire life in Glidden. Marie was close to her many family members and spoke so often of her loving memories of them.
Marie married William Bogyo on June 24, 1950. They had three children: Brenda (Fred) Hildebrandt, of Glidden; Debra (Bill) Ruth, of Palm Harbor, Florida; and William ‘Bill’ (Rita) Bogyo, of Duluth, Minnesota. When Marie and Bill became grandparents, Marie became a treasured ‘Nana’ to all the grandchildren.
Marie was a 1948 graduate of Glidden High School. She was a life long member of the Glidden V.F.W. Auxiliary. Marie worked at Schraufnagel Lumber Company and then worked at home doing the Glidden Sanitary Department bookkeeping. This led to a later job as bookkeeper at Glidden Public Schools, where Marie made many lifelong friends. After a number of years at the school, Marie decided to work at Northern State Bank in Glidden. She became a Branch Manager and worked for 24 years at the bank until her retirement. In May of 1994, she was married to Kenneth Zielke.
In later years, Marie brought her cat, Molly, to her ‘new’ home in town and lived happily there until the last two months of her life. She enjoyed visits from her friends and family.
Marie is survived by: her 3 children; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived: by 2 step-children: Curt (Gwen) Zielke, of Neilsville, Wisconsin; and Penny (Glen) Ylitalo, of Marshfield, Wisconsin; 5 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great grandchildren. She is further survived by: her brother, Harold ‘Butch’ (Marge) Halberg, of West Bend, Wisconsin; her former sisters-in-law: Rose (Pat) Bonney, of Glidden; and Marian Piossa, of Safety Harbor, Florida; sister-in-law, Irene Zach, of Glidden; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her first husband, William Bogyo; her second husband, Ken Zielke, her parents; and her beloved sister, Linda.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, in Glidden, will be appreciated.
