George Cramon Center age 81, of Lockhart died September 20, 2013. He was born May 5, 1932 in Greer, SC to Hawthorne and Annie Babb Center. George was veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He met his wife Genell when he was stationed at Elgin Air Force Base and he and Genell moved back to her home town where he began his career as an insurance agent. His hobbies were woodworking and fishing. George's biggest legacy was the immeasurable mark he left on his wife, sons, grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Known to them as George, Daddy and PaPa, he will forever hold a dear and precious place in each of their hearts. He was preceded in death by father, Hawthorne Center; mother, Annie Babb Center; brothers, Raymond and Cleo Center; sister, Vera Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Genell Henderson Center. A devoted husband and friend, he and Genell were very active in the Lockhart Baptist Church. He is also survived by his sons, Ricky Center and his wife Debora of Enterprise, Randy Center of Crestview and Ronnie Center of Florala. He devoted his life to setting a good example for them to live by. George is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, who loved him and idolized him with their whole hearts. He is also survived by sisters, Lettie White and Elenor Warner.
Funeral services for George Center will be 2PM Monday September 23, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home with John Bryan and Kerry Saxton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8PM at Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Red Oak Cemetery.
